ICC Reacts to Pakistan’s Name Removal from India’s Champions Trophy Jersey

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has firmly denied recent reports claiming that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) removed Pakistan’s name, the host nation, from Team India’s jersey for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

According to ICC sources, it is mandatory for all participating teams to display the tournament’s official logo on their kits, which includes the host country’s name.

“It is the responsibility of every team to feature the tournament logo on their jerseys. All teams are required to adhere to this rule,” stated an ICC spokesperson.

The clarification followed reports from Indian media suggesting that the BCCI had decided to omit Pakistan’s name from Team India’s jerseys for the Champions Trophy 2025. The ICC emphasized that teams failing to comply with the logo requirement would face strict actions.

    Standard Practice for ICC Events

Traditionally, ICC tournament branding requires all participating teams to display the host nation’s name on their jerseys, regardless of where matches are played. This ensures uniformity and reinforces the event’s identity.

    PCB Rejects Claims as Baseless

Sources within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have also dismissed these claims as unfounded. PCB officials confirmed that no representative from their board has communicated with Indian media regarding this issue.

Rising Tensions Between PCB and BCCI

This controversy arises amidst ongoing tensions between the PCB and BCCI, with allegations of politicizing cricket. Previously, the Indian government refused to send its team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. This decision led the ICC to adopt a hybrid model, allowing India to play its matches in Dubai.

Stay tuned for further updates as the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 preparations continue.
