In an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, Dasun Shanaka shared his views on the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, naming Pakistan as one of the top contenders for the title. Shanaka emphasized the advantage of playing on home soil, with Pakistan's strong performances in front of their home crowd.

"Pakistan will definitely give a fight in the Champions Trophy," said Shanaka, adding that their ability to perform at home will make them a formidable force.

However, Shanaka also acknowledged the competitiveness of other teams such as Australia, India, and England, stating, "They are also top contenders; you cannot write them off."

The Champions Trophy will kick off with the host nation, Pakistan, taking on New Zealand on February 19 in Karachi. A highly anticipated match between Pakistan and India follows on February 23 in Dubai. The final is scheduled to be held in Lahore, but in the event of India's qualification, the match will be moved to Dubai. A reserve day is also in place for the final in case of weather disruptions.

Meanwhile, renovations at Karachi's National Stadium for the Champions Trophy are nearing completion, with the deadline extended to January 31. Initially set for December 15, the renovation deadline was pushed back multiple times but is now confirmed to be completed on time, ensuring the stadium's readiness for the prestigious event.
